Final Reflection

During unprecedented times, my teammate and I decided to study evidence-based initiatives for treating acute respiratory distress syndrome (ARDS). I learned how the application of early prone positioning compared to non-prone positioning in the outcome of intubated and mechanically ventilated patients with severe ARDS. In the process, I learned how to create a PICOT question, where and how to search for primary sources, critically appraising sources, and writing the influence paper. It wouldn’t have been possible without guidance, and the help of my teammate. Considering it was only the two of us, communication was easier. We discussed what each of us would do and recommended what the other should do. We then gave each other feedback for where we thought changes were necessary. I found myself to be a team player, by being flexible for whatever was needed. Although, we often had a fair share of what we decided to do. We had some difficulty evaluating sources between the two of us, but I feel as though with practice it becomes easier. I’m thankful for the knowledge I hope to carry with me throughout my nursing career.
